Sean E. Tucker, House 1983-84
Dr. Sean E. Tucker is the Internal Controls Manager in the Office of Safety and Mission Assurance for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) John Glenn Research Center. In this capacity, he ensures the Center’s compliance with the Federal Manager’s Financial Integrity Act (FMFIA). He is also an aerospace auditor and a member of the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) which is responsible for bringing aviation, space and defense companies throughout the world together to deliver more value at all levels of the supply chain.
Dr. Tucker is a graduate of the United States Department of Agriculture’s Executive Leadership Program. Prior to joining NASA, Tucker worked 15 years as a full-time Senior Investigator for the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). He graduated from the first class of the Cleveland Federal Executive Board’s Cleveland Federal Community Leadership Institute (CFCLI) and has served twice as a Loaned Executive to the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC).
Dr. Tucker holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from The George Washington University’s School of Business and Public Management located in Washington D.C. He earned his undergraduate degree in Government/Political Science from Oberlin College located in Oberlin, Ohio where he graduated with numerous honors. Dr. Tucker is also an ordained minister. He is a graduate of Ashland Theological Seminary and holds a master’s degree and doctorate in theology.
Dr. Tucker is the recipient of the prestigious Harry S. Truman Scholarship, a national academic scholarship awarded to select students throughout the country who have demonstrated high academic achievement and who possess exceptional leadership potential for government service and academia. He has worked as an Assistant to a British Member of Parliament (House of Commons) and studied British Literature. Earlier in his career, at the age of 15, he was appointed a United States Congressional Page to the 98th Congress and worked daily with members of the United States House of Representatives, United States Senate, White House staff and the President of the United States of America.
Dr. Tucker’s career and academic studies have taken him around the world. He has worked as an Assistant to a British Member of Parliament in London, England (House of Commons). Moreover, his academic pursuits have allowed him to live and study in Austria, Greece, Yugoslavia, Hungary, Germany and the Republic of South Africa.
During his federal career Dr. Tucker worked as a Research Analyst for the Congressional Research service in Washington, D.C. where he conducted research on Congressional reform proposals and some of his findings were published by the Library of Congress. He is an avid mentor to youth in the community. He serves as a member of the Advisory Board for the Akron Youth Summit, a local organization that meets the needs of at risk youth. He is also a professor at the University of Phoenix where he teaches business courses. Dr. Tucker who considers himself a boxing historian also enjoys reading, writing, water sports, and hiking. He, his wife Carolyn, their daughter Ashley reside in historic Hudson, Ohio.
